Interview With SAGE

Q. If you could describe the company in one sentence? (Octopo is ___.)

A. Octopo is a company made up of people with many different colors.
It’s an environment where individuals can freely express their personalities and opinions. Many people openly share their experiences and thoughts on various topics. Unique individuals come together in harmony (almost like a Spirit Bomb!) to create something entirely new.

Q. What’s your ultimate work playlist?

A. Calm winter Pokémon music for studying and working.
I’ve loved Pokémon since I was young, and having quiet, peaceful background music helps me focus while working.

Q. What’s a good day to work from home?

A. When I want to conserve my energy.
By saving commuting time, I can recharge physically and invest that extra energy into my work, which leads to higher-quality results.

Q. What’s a good day to come into the office?

A. When my work isn’t turning out as well as I’d hoped and I want to hear more opinions from others.
I think subtle details like facial expressions or tone are hard to grasp through text alone. So when I want to discuss ideas more deeply and exchange diverse opinions face-to-face, I intentionally come into the office.

Q. What kind of person would fit well at Octopo?

A. Someone passionate about art and able to clearly express their opinions.
Since Octopo emphasizes sharing opinions, rather than simply going along with things, it’s important to both propose your own ideas and listen to and accept others’ perspectives. I think someone like that would adapt quickly.

Q. What makes you most proud to work here?

A. There are many highly skilled effect artists here.
Creating design-driven effects is much more difficult than people might imagine. It’s something that requires visualizing one’s own imagination rather than copying something that already exists. I think it’s a huge point of pride that we have artists who continuously create entirely new effects.

Q. When did you feel you grew the most after joining?

A. When I noticed myself naturally handling tasks that once felt uncertain and intimidating.
In the beginning, when I saw difficult assignments, it was hard to imagine how to create them or what the final outcome would look like. Over time, I’ve become able to structure a clear process even for tasks I’m trying for the first time. That’s when I felt significant growth.

Q. What would you like to say to someone considering applying to Octopo?

A. Rather than simply imitating what you like, I hope you reinterpret it in your own style and truly make it your own.
I believe creativity is one of the most important qualities in any field. I hope you don’t lose your unique color just because you feel rushed.

Q. Who helps create a healthy team atmosphere?

A. It’s hard to choose just one person, so I’ll say Jason and Emily.
Because the team members genuinely care about not overburdening one another and work with consideration for each other, I think their efforts are what allow us to laugh, chat, and maintain a positive environment.

Q. Which emoji do you use most often on Slack?

A. I tend to use emojis that anyone can comfortably receive without feeling pressured.
